Access Services is the Libraries' point of contact for issues relating to borrowing and use of materials. Our department handles issues such as bills and fines, interlibrary loan pickup, circulation, notification for overdues, recalls, and courtesy reminders of forthcoming overdues, request delivery, recalls, renewals, and course reserves.
The following services are available from the the Access Services department:
Services for faculty & instructors: print & media reserves, assistance with integrating licensed library content, streaming media, and media for screening in the classroom or in a library screening room.
Library Express Workstations
Library Express workstations, found in several campus libraries, provide access to IUCAT without the necessity to log in. They provide no access to the Internet.
IUB faculty, staff, and students can extend the due date on most IU library materials through the "My Account" feature in IUCAT. If you do not have an IU login or cannot access IUCAT, you may renew materials via our webform, by telephone, or by email.
Information for students and for faculty/instructors. "Reserves" refers to any print or media resources that instructors request to be set aside for student use throughout the duration of a course.
Most materials may be returned in person at any IU Library, in one of two drive-up book drops on campus, or by mail. Selected materials such as reserve materials and Interlibrary Loans may require that they be returned in person to the correct circulation desk.
Request Delivery & ALF Requests (offsite storage)
IU students, faculty, and staff may use IUCAT to request delivery of materials from one library to another within the IU system.
Borrow Materials Not Owned By IU
Use Interlibrary Loan to request articles not owned by the IU Bloomington Libraries and books not owned by any IU Library. IUB affiliates can obtain reciprocal borrowing privileges at some other libraries.
