We welcome visitors from across the State of Indiana and around the world to IU Libraries. Whether you're a parent on campus for the first time, a returning alum, or a visiting scholar, we're excited to show you all that IU Bloomington and the Libraries have to offer.
Services For Visitors
Temporary Computer Accounts
Visitors may request a temporary computer account to allow them full access from inside IU Libraries to online databases, electronic books, electronic journals, and the general resources of the Internet. These accounts are free and are valid for up to 30 days.
The temporary computer account can be used on any library-owned computer in Wells Library and in the branch libraries, but it cannot be used to connect to these resources from computers off-campus.
Printing Cards are also available for guests with a temporary computer account. For a small fee, you may obtain a print card at this time as well. The print card can be used for regular 8.5" x 11" printing within the IU Bloomington Libraries. Contact Access Services with any questions about obtaining a print card.
Offering this network access fulfills our commitment to the Federal Depository Library Program as it allows citizens to easily access electronic government information.
Priority use of library workstations is for students, faculty, and staff of Indiana University. Non-affiliated users with temporary computer accounts may be asked to relinquish the workstations to the priority users.
To obtain a temporary computer account, visit Access Services at the circulation desk in the Wells Library Scholars Commons. Visitors must present a current government-issued photo ID to obtain a temporary computer account.
