Available Services For Visitors
Planning Your Campus Visit
We are delighted to welcome visitors from all around the world to IU Libraries, and we are committed to providing support and services that allow all visitors to access our world-class collections.
Wi-Fi Access for Guests
IU provides free Wi-Fi access to the internet for visitors at select locations on campus, including Libraries facilities. Visitors may use the IU Guest wireless network for routine Wi-Fi access.
This service does not allow access to library subscription databases, electronic books, or electronic journals. You may request a Temporary Computer Account (see below), which provides access to IU Libraries' subscription-based resources on library-owned workstations.
Temporary Computer Accounts
Visitors may request a Temporary Computer Account (guest account) to allow them full access from inside IU Libraries to online databases, electronic books, electronic journals, and the general resources of the Internet. These accounts are free and are valid for up to 30 days. The Temporary Computer Account can be used on any library-owned computer in Wells Library and in the branch libraries and it cannot be used to connect to these resources from computers off-campus.
To obtain a guest account, visit Access Services at the circulation desk:
Scholars Commons
First floor, East Tower
Wells Library
The guest account can be procured by Indiana residents and anyone outside of the state. Simply present a current government-issued photo ID and ask for a guest account at the circulation desk.
Printing Cards are also available for guests with a Temporary Computer Account. For a small fee, you may obtain a print card at this time as well. The print card can be used for regular 8.5" x 11" printing within the IU Bloomington Libraries. Contact Access Services with any questions about obtaining a print card.
If you wish to visit another campus library to obtain a Temporary Computer Account, we advise you call ahead.
Offering this network access fulfills our commitment to the Federal Depository Library Program as it allows citizens to easily access electronic government information.
Priority use of library workstations is for students, faculty, and staff of Indiana University. Non-affiliated users with Temporary Computer Accounts may be asked to relinquish the workstations to the priority users.
Borrower's Card
Residents of the State of Indiana, Big Ten Academic Alliance (formerly CIC) Scholars, and OCLC Scholars are eligible for borrower's cards.
