Stoeltje named interim head of BFCA
Congratulations to IU Libraries Moving Image Archive founder and director Rachael Stoeltje, who will serve as the interim director of the Black Film Center & Archive beginning August 1. She will continue to serve as IULMIA director during this one-year appointment.
Part of the Media School (although physically located on the ground floor of the Wells Library), the BFCA is dedicated to collecting, preserving and making available historically and culturally significant films by and about Black people. As an internationally-known leader in the field of moving image preservation with nearly two decades of experience preserving access to IU's film collections, Rachael Stoeltje's expertise will be invaluable to this important archive.

Education Library temporarily closed for renovation
If you've been away over the summer, you will return to find some changes on campus - including the ongoing renovation of the Education Library. The library is currently closed, with a move-in period anticipated during the spring of 2023.
Although most books from the Education Library are currently unavailable, librarians are happy to work with you to make sure you can obtain the materials you need digitally or via Interlibrary Loan. Course reserves, hold pickups, rotating children's book collections, and some other materials are available at the Education Library Outpost, now open on the second floor balcony in the School of Education. This is also where you can find librarians and staff who will be more than happy to help you find the materials, information, and services you need for a successful 2022-2023 academic year. Stop by for a visit!

More than free textbooks
Getting on the same page: IU Libraries experts support faculty who want to center student affordability without compromising student learning.
Open Educational Resources, OER for short, are materials used for teaching and learning that have been shared under a special license or exist in the public domain, giving other instructors permission to use or revise them. Such resources include textbooks, media, entire courses, or other teaching tools. Faculty who use OER, open access, and library licensed or published materials experience classroom teaching with 100% student access to course materials.
In 2022, IU Libraries reassigned former Scholarly Communication Librarian, Sarah Hare, to a full-time focus as IU Bloomington's Open Education Librarian.
