There are many ways that patrons can search, browse, and request access to films and videos from IU Libraries Moving Image Archive.
WATCH & LISTEN on MEDIA COLLECTIONS ONLINE
There are multiple ways to view films and videos from the IU Libraries Moving Image Archive. An ever-growing number of them can be viewed online through Media Collections Online (MCO), IU’s streaming platform based on the IU Libraries-developed Avalon Media System.
Use the search bar on the top right to find specific titles. Or browse through titles using the filters on the left-hand side of the screen. Filtering by “Sound Recording” will display all accessible audio recordings. Filtering by “Moving Image” will display all accessible film/video records. Use additional filters like “Unit,” “Collection,” or “Physical Format” to help focus inquiry results. As additional cataloging, copyright research, and editing is done on digitized files, more materials will be accessible on MCO.
RESEARCH in IUCAT & through FINDING AIDS
There are over 34,000 catalog records of IULMIA held titles in IUCAT, Indiana University Libraries’ online catalog. Most of the films in the IU Audio-Visual Center collection and the David Bradley collection are searchable in IUCAT.
There are over 600 cubic feet of paper records from various IULMIA collections for which there are Finding Aids. Finding Aids can be searched on Archives Online, Indiana University portal for accessing descriptions of archival and special collections.
Many materials in IULMIA's collections (including those under copyright and those not yet fully processed) may not be viewable in a public search. After doing after doing an initial search, it is recommended that you contact IULMIA (iulmia@indiana.edu) with your research topic(s) and we'll see if we can identify additional materials!
