John Tweedie, who grew up in England, started his finance career with a C.P.A. firm in the United Kingdom, working in the audit division. For the last 15 years John held the position of Senior Director of Administration and Finance for the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering on the Bloomington campus. He started his career at Indiana University in 2002, with previous posts including three years as the Business Manager for IU Athletics, and two years with The Controller's Office as a Lead Accounting Consultant for IU Auxiliary and Support Units. He was also the Human Resources Business Partner at Luddy for 10 years and has a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges at the intersection of HR and Finance. In his time at Luddy, John helped the school with strategy and planning as the school tripled in size through growth in programs, the merger with SLIS, and the launch of a new department, Intelligent Systems Engineering.

As Senior Director of Administration and Finance, John is responsible for:

• Advising the Dean and Executive Council on strategic financial decisions
• Providing executive reporting to enable timely and informed decisions
• Directing Libraries Financial Services operations
• Directing IU Press financial operations

John has a deep understanding of the financial planning and management of large organizations at IU. In addition, two key strengths that he brings to the table are his ability to help create complex financial analyses to help model the financial outcomes of different strategic decisions and also providing structure for current and new activities, having authored over 30 policies, guidelines and SOPs (standard operating procedures) for Luddy. John has an active license as an Indiana Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He is also a member of the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and is certified as a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).

When John is not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters, and Charlie the dog. On weekends he can be found at local music venues playing lead guitar in his classic rock band, 45 Drive.
