This exhibition looks at the relationship of the life and work of South African writer Nadine Gordimer (1923-2014), to the world outside Africa. Closely associated with the 20th century anti-apartheid movement, Gordimer occupied a complex literary position during her lifetime and has enjoyed a no less complex legacy in the decade since her passing. Gordimer’s papers are held by the Lilly Library.
