Indiana University Libraries Moving Image Archive

Plan Your Visit
Care for people. Care for films. In that order.
The Indiana University Libraries Moving Image Archive (IULMIA) prioritizes human connection while preserving media of purpose and practice – moving images created with specific social, educational, or cultural objectives as well as works that explore the craft of media making itself.
With more than 130,000 items spanning nearly 100 years of media production, IULMIA is dedicated to the long-term preservation of this history and its active use today. Students, faculty, researchers, filmmakers, curators, programmers, and members of the public bring the archive to life, ensuring the collections remain a vital resource for contemporary study, creativity, and community.
The Indiana University Libraries Screening Room (IULMIA SR), is a state-of-the-art film and video projection facility offering exceptional presentation capabilities. This space is designed to accommodate specific types of screenings and media-centered events, each of which is supported by a dedicated, skilled projectionist/technician to ensure a seamless viewing experience.
IULMIA and the IULMIA SR are located in the Media Services suite on the ground floor of the Wells Library. Our offices are open by appointment only, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm. Our collections are stored off-site at Indiana University's Ruth Lilly Auxiliary Library Facility.
