Join Sheryl Vanderstel, Food Historian and Wylie House Docent, as she explores the ins and outs of daily life in the 1830s and 40s and the challenges of keeping house in the growing, Western town of Bloomington. Margaret Wylie (wife of IU's first president, Andrew Wylie) filled her days with cleaning, cooking, laundry, gardening, sewing - the list is endless!  How did she do it? This talk will look at the myths and realities of a woman's life in the mid-19th century.
