Wylie House Docent and fiber artist, Ann Fierst, explores the history of natural dyes, from local sources to imported materials and dying techniques. Indigo, black oak bark, and madder root were three of the natural dyes used in Indiana prior to the 1850s when synthetic dyes were first introduced. Examples will be provided.
