Jay feels lonely, though, so he wishes on a star and a horse named Ben appears, and he and Jay become friends. The book includes picture symbols that can be used in conjunction with the text and illustrations to make meaning. The authors have developed this book to use for literacy instruction with children who have learning differences, disabilities, and delays, and have included several suggestions on how it can be used to accomplish different learning objectives.
