1. Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

    The IUB Libraries will try to get materials from other libraries for you if we do not own what you are looking for. Any current faculty, staff, or student may use our free ILL service.

    Computers in the IU Bloomington Libraries are provided to support the academic and research work of students, faculty, staff, and visitors to the Libraries.

  3. Class Reserves

    Information for students and for faculty/instructors. "Reserves" refers to any print or media resources that instructors request to be set aside for student use throughout the duration of a course.

  4. Loan Periods, Overdue Fines and Billing

    Loan periods vary depending on borrower status, library, and type of material. Borrowers must renew or return material on or before its due date to avoid overdue fines. Some library materials cannot be borrowed.

  5. Returns

    Most materials may be returned in person at any IU Library, in one of two drive-up book drops on campus, or by mail. Selected materials such as reserve materials and Interlibrary Loans may require that they be returned in person to the correct circulation desk.

  6. Recall

    If you wish to obtain an item that is checked out to another user, you can place a recall. This gives the other user a deadline by which the item must be returned so that you can borrow it.

  7. Request Article Delivery

    IUB faculty, staff, and students may request digital copies of journal articles or book chapters (one chapter per book) from printed and microform materials held on the Bloomington campus.

  8. Request From ALF

    Some items in the IUB Libraries' collections are housed in a collections vault at the Ruth Lilly Auxiliary Library Facility (ALF). Users may request these materials to be delivered to any IU campus library.

  9. Borrow Materials Not Owned By IU

    Use Interlibrary Loan to request articles not owned by the IU Bloomington Libraries and books not owned by any IU Library. IUB affiliates can obtain reciprocal borrowing privileges at some other libraries.

  10. Lending to Other Libraries

    We provide interlibrary lending services to libraries and other agencies. Individuals should contact their nearest library to request from us.

  11. Request A Purchase

    Users may request that the Libraries purchase a book, a journal subscription, access to an electronic resource, or other material for the collection.

  12. Rush Cataloging & Catalog Correction Requests

    You may submit a rush request for any title marked in IUCAT as "on order," "in process," or "being cataloged." You may also submit a report of any error you find in IUCAT.

  13. Copying and Scanning Library Materials

    Most IUB Libraries have photocopiers and/or scanners for your use.

    Many IU Libraries have microfilm, microfiche, and other microform holdings as well as reader/printers.

  15. Renewing Materials

    IUB faculty, staff, and students can extend the due date on most IU library materials through the "My Account" feature in IUCAT. If you do not have an IU login or cannot access IUCAT, you may renew materials via our webform, by telephone, or by email.
