Loan periods vary depending on borrower status, library, and type of material. Borrowers must renew or return material on or before its due date to avoid overdue fines. Some library materials cannot be borrowed.
Most materials may be returned in person at any IU Library, in one of two drive-up book drops on campus, or by mail. Selected materials such as reserve materials and Interlibrary Loans may require that they be returned in person to the correct circulation desk.
Some items in the IUB Libraries' collections are housed in a collections vault at the Ruth Lilly Auxiliary Library Facility (ALF). Users may request these materials to be delivered to any IU campus library.
Use Interlibrary Loan to request articles not owned by the IU Bloomington Libraries and books not owned by any IU Library. IUB affiliates can obtain reciprocal borrowing privileges at some other libraries.
All scholars and researchers are welcome to use the resources of the IUB Libraries. IUB faculty, staff, and students may check out materials using a current valid Crimson Card. Indiana residents may obtain a Library Borrowers Card.
IUB faculty, staff, and students can extend the due date on most IU library materials through the "My Account" feature in IUCAT. If you do not have an IU login or cannot access IUCAT, you may renew materials via our webform, by telephone, or by email.
