Since 2015, Richard Higgins has served as Open Access Publishing Manager, working with scholars, library colleagues, and UITS staff to manage the IUScholarworks institutional repository and the Libraries’ Open Access Journal program. He leverages his expertise in scholarly communication, data management, repository systems, and digital publishing to support emerging models of publication and scholarship through developing and managing these and other complex web applications.
A prolific scholar and researcher, Richard has published and presented extensively; notable projects include serving as Project Editor for the forthcoming The Oxford Handbook of the Bible in America. His work has been recognized through a number of scholarships, grants and fellowships.
Richard’s experience at Indiana University Bloomington dates back to 2002 and includes serving as Assistant Sponsoring Editor for the IU Press, Visiting Lecturer for the Department of English, and Digital Humanities Support Specialist within the Research Technologies division of University Information Technology Services. He also served in editorial roles for the journal Victorian Studies. Richard received his Ph.D. in English from Indiana University Bloomington. He also holds a Master of Information Science and Master of Arts in English from IUB, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
