August 24 begins Fall Semester 2020

Herman B Wells Library

As the semester progresses, the Libraries will constantly monitor the evolving health situation of our campus and community and then modify access to in-person services and spaces as needed.

Limited access hours will be Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.,
Friday 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Closed Saturday,  Sunday 1 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Highlighted changes to services and access:

  • East Tower floors are closed (including book stack areas, the Grad Commons, graduate carrels and faculty studies)
  • West Tower all floors are open for reservation-only physical distancing seating. All visitor seating will be assigned. No group study will be available.
  • Physical item pickup will not require an appointment and will be offered at the Scholars' Commons Circulation desk for items on hold through Request Delivery Service.
  • Most Wells departments such as Reference, Government Information, Maps and Microfilm Services, University Archives, Media Services, and Moving Image Archive – will offer access through consultation.
  • Elevators providing East and West Tower access are limited to two individuals in each cab. This will mean longer waits or more use of the stairwells for those who are able.
  • Spaces such as the Digitization Lab, Grad Commons, the Makerspace, and IQ Wall will not be open.

Additional IU Libraries destinations

Each location will operate slightly differently this fall to meet the needs of its most directly connected campus communities.  All hours and services are subject to change as the semester progresses.
