Research Data Consultations

Through the Research Data Services department, IU Libraries offers free consultations to all IU researchers working with data, across disciplines and throughout the research lifecycle. Whether you're just getting started, are stuck on a particular problem, or wrapping up your project, we provide tailored support for your needs. These consultations are available for:

  • Graduate students
  • Faculty members
  • Staff conducting research
  • Advanced undergraduate students

Our team is available to consult on a variety of research data management questions, including but not limited to:

  • Creating and refining a Data Management and Sharing Plan (DMSP)
  • Study design
  • Data collection, including initial collection, finding and acquiring data, and scraping data
  • Data cleaning, including merging, reshaping, and categorizing variables
  • Analyzing with R and Python, modeling decisions, and visualization
  • GIS and Spatial data
  • Publishing your data

Consultations are available at no cost to faculty, students, and staff on all IU Campuses.
