Research Consultations

The Indiana University Libraries provide a wide range of services in support of the research interests of students, faculty and staff. Within the Wells Library, the Scholars' Commons and Learning Commons provide specialized services in spaces designed to support scholarship and learning. In addition to the Wells Library there are also branch libraries across campus that support specific academic interests.

We can help with developing a research topic and searching for sources for a paper or project for a class. Ask a librarian for help via email, phone, or text. Or stop by any of our library locations across campus during open hours.

IU Libraries subject specialists are available to help researchers in a wide range of academic fields.

Our subjects specialists also compile curated research guides organized by academic discipline. These can be great starting points for your research.

During the spring and fall semesters, Research Assistants are available on a drop-in basis or by appointment in the Learning Commons (Wells Library, West Tower, 1st floor). Research Assistants include librarians and graduate students specializing in library science who offer in-depth, one-on-one consultations at any stage of the research process. This can include identifying a research topic, creating a search strategy, navigating library resources, and evaluating information and resources.

Each semester a range of library workshops are offered for graduate students and faculty on topics including core research tools, advanced workshops on special topics, curricular and assignment design, and presentations by leading experts in digital scholarship and publishing.
