#PulseOrlandoSyllabus

On June 12th, 2016, forty-nine individuals were killed at Latin night at the Pulse Nightclub, an LGBTQ club, in Orlando, Florida. In response to this tragic attack, librarians and teachers began compiling resources in the #PulseOrlandoSyllabus. The statement of intention, written by Oliver Bendorf and Lydia Willoughby, describes the syllabus as "a resource to understand our pain and grief, sadness and healing in the wake of the shooting at Pulse Night Club.” The following page contains four sections, the links to an IUCAT folder that lists academic books mentioned from syllabus (as of June 17, 2016), the second contains links to scholarly articles that provide background information on LGBTQ, Latinx and diaspora communities, the third and fourth sections are articles, including "LGBTQIAPOC Authors Writing on Orlando" and Popular Articles, respectively. This page was created by Thom Sullivan and is up to date as of June 22th, 2016. As of June 22, the syllabus totalled 80 pages, more materials continue to be added. For updates, visit the #PulseOrlandoSyllabus.
