Fees for Publishing Indiana University Photographs and Documents
For IU administrators, staff, faculty, students and alumni and for projects and publications about IU history and culture: No charge

Not-For-Profit Organizations: 25.00

For-Profit Organizations:
   Commercial: 100.00
   Advertising: 200.00

These publishing fees are for non-exclusive, one-time use of a single image unless otherwise indicated and are levied over and above reproduction costs. Subsequent issues, editions, reprints, and/or broadcasts will require payment of additional fees.

Scholarly groups are defined as those that are publishing for the purpose of academic research or scholarship. Newspapers, although considered commercial publishing, would not be charged a fee. All exceptions will be requested through the Director of Business Affairs for the Libraries. 

Amendment, September 2, 2015: Patrons who wish to sign a contract for more than a one-time only use may opt to sign a contract for “10 years, automatically renewable in absence of written notice from the Licensor” and pay 4 times the above applicable rate.  In addition, printed works with an initial print run of over 10,000 copies may be charged double the applicable rate.
