Outages & Downtime for Subscription Resources (e-journals, databases, etc)
This page lists the electronic journals and databases for which a report has been made that the title cannot be reached by users on the Bloomington campus. Titles are listed in alphabetical order.
When a vendor of a collection of electronic journals reports problems in connecting to all or a large number of its journals (often several hundred titles), the problem is noted, but all of the titles in the collection cannot be listed individually.
Titles are removed as soon as the problem has been resolved.
China Academic Journals - updated December 10, 2025
Access to content from a number of journals in the China Academic Journals (CAJ) database has been temporarily suspended. Content is being restored as support work on the issue. As of December 2025, 102 titles have been brought back successfully.
EBSCO eBooks - April 7, 2026
EBSCO eBooks will undergo scheduled maintenance on Tuesday, April 7th, 2026 from 4:00 a.m. EDT to 7:00 a.m. EDT.
During this time, users will not be able to download full, DRM-protected EBSCO eBooks from the EBSCOhost platform or open previously-downloaded files in Adobe Digital Editions for the first time. Users who already have already opened files in Adobe Digital Editions will be able to continue reading those eBooks without issue.
There is no impact for end users reading eBooks in the online viewer or downloading eBook chapters or DRM-free eBooks.
The Herald-Times (E-Edition) - March 17, 2026
There is currently a problem affecting access to the E-Edition of the Herald-Times. Support is working to resolve the issue. Updates will be provided when available.
NewspaperARCHIVE - updated March 31, 2026
Certain aspects of NewspaperARCHIVE are now accessible after a major outage. Technical support continues to work to fully restore the site. A timeline on is not available.
The following functions are currently available:
- Searching across the archive (Note: The only available search function is the Advanced Search)
- Creating new clippings
- Downloading and sharing stories
The following features are unavailable:
- Some publications have not been restored
- Browse functions
- Personal user accounts are unavailable
ProQuest Ebooks - August 6, 2025
There is currently an issue affecting the download chapter function for some ProQuest e-book titles. The issue is occurring with e-book titles that have both the EPUB and PDF formats. ProQuest support is working to resolve the problem.
As a workaround, users may download a chapter PDF by following these instructions:
- Select Read Online
- Select the book icon at the top of the page.
- Select “Switch to PDF.”
- Navigate to the desired chapter.
- Select the pdf icon and download chapter.
