New mini makerspace in the Scholars' Commons

April 25th 2018
Mini makerspace, Scholars' Commons 157N

The Wells Library is now home to a mini makerspace! Located in in the Scholars’ Commons, the mini makerspace is a place for experimenting, tinkering, playing, and inventing. Here you’ll find tools such as a 360º camera, a desktop vinyl cutter, littleBits synthesizer kits, and more.

The library’s mini makerspace is located in room 157N (1st Floor, East Tower) and is part of a network of similar spaces across the IU Bloomington campus, including the MILL in the School of Education, the MAD Labs in the School of Art, Architecture + Design, and the UITS 3D Printing Lab on the 4th floor of the West Tower of Wells Library.

The mini makerspace is currently available by appointment only with plans to offer drop-in hours in fall 2018. If you’re interested in setting up an appointment, please contact our Digital Engagement Librarian, Leanne Nay.

In addition to providing equipment and supplies, the IU Libraries also host the Maker Mondays workshop series in the spring and fall semesters. Past topics include e-textiles, screenprinting, and direct animation. Registration is free and all are welcome to attend.
