On June 22, 2025 Indiana University Libraries is proud to announce the release of a new and improved version of IUCAT, the university’s online library catalog. This latest version is now powered by Blacklight 7 and Solr 8, delivering faster, more relevant search results.

In addition to improved search functionality, the new IUCAT introduces a refreshed interface that aligns with Indiana University’s current digital design standards. The updated look and feel provide a more cohesive experience across IU’s web platforms, ensuring consistency and familiarity for students, faculty, and staff.

Accessibility has also been a major focus of this release. The new IUCAT includes several enhancements to support users with disabilities, including improved keyboard navigation, better screen reader compatibility, and adherence to the latest WCAG guidelines. Advanced Search now has a limit of two field boxes that users can input search terms and Boolean operators. To cover known accessibility issues, folders now function differently than before, and we'll continue to rollout upgrades to that feature in future releases throughout the summer.
