New IUCAT homepage and campus views

Just in time for the spring semester, we have updated IUCAT with a new look for several key pages: the main homepage and each campus search page. Each page now includes more ways to navigate to additional places to find resources to help you in your research journey. The main home page spotlights more ways to access university wide collections:

  • Digital Collections: the university repository for digital images
  • Media Collections Online: digitally available audio and visual material collections across the university
  • Interlibrary Loan instructions: the Knowledge Base article linking to each campus’s Interlibrary Loan instructions
  • Archives Online: the online portal to discover items found in our special collection held by archives and other cultural heritage institutions

Additionally, this homepage also makes it easier to switch between university wide and campus specific searches, as well as a more visible link to the feedback form through more visible navigation options.

Campus views search items on that specific campus. Four quick links for each campus beneath the search bar are OneSearch, ScholarWorks, Interlibrary Loan, WorldCat

Each campus has its own homepage page to make it easier for you to search for only items on your campus. Since each campus has its own unique collections, these pages feature quick links to resources specific to your campus like

  • OneSearch: the search tool for articles and eBooks available on your campus

  • ScholarWorks: the repository of research done at your IU campus

If you’re in need of a resource that isn’t in any of our collections, this update makes it easier for you to find the relevant information on accessing those items through the libraries in a process called interlibrary loan. Each campus has interlibrary loan services, and you can find the link to how to request items through your campus’s library.

Two special collections libraries are discoverable through IUCAT: the Lilly Library and the Kinsey Institute Library. These each have their own homepages offering quick links to their specific request systems and digital collections.

The four Lilly Library quicklinks include

  • Lilly Library Request System
  • Archives Online Lilly Collection
  • Ask a Lilly Librarian
  • Digital Collections Online

Also included in this update, Text This Call Number is now Email This Call Number. This will still send a reminder of where exactly an item is located in the library system. That information will be sent to your email address rather that as a SMS text message. This update is intended to make IU's wide array of collections more visible to help you discover all the information resources available. As always, we welcome feedback about your experience with this platform as we continue to refine and enhance the user experience.
