The following is a brief guide to ABC, CBS, and the MacNeil/Lehrer television news programs that are available electronically and/or on microfiche. Print indexes are shelved in Government Information, Maps and Microform Services' (2nd floor of the East Tower in Wells) microforms reference section; the call numbers are indicated below. Some of the holdings are incomplete so, please check IUCAT for a more complete description of IUB's holdings. Additionally, there are supplemental links to news resources, including those on the international circuit, listed at the end of this guide.

ABC News Index is an annual, print index to various ABC television news shows. The index is arranged by subject, by personalities being interviewed, and by program titles. Citations include program title, date, and microfiche number. Brief abstracts of each entry are also included.

CBS News Index is an annual, print index covering Daily News Broadcasts and Public Affairs Broadcasts. The index is arranged alphabetically by subject. Personalities in the news are considered subjects and are thereby integrated into the indexing system. Underneath each entry is a descriptive phase that tells the reader a little more about the program topic. Citations include the date, the broadcast series, and the transcript page number.

The MacNeil/Lehrer Report Broadcast Review and Index provides 'at a glance' access to broadcasts by including annotated entries that summarize the broadcast, list the participants, and the date the show aired. A topical index is included in the very back.
