Michelle Crowe brings nearly 20 years of nonprofit communications experience to her role as Communications Director at IU Libraries. Michelle has a background in marketing, community relations and customer experience planning, with particular strength and experience in healthcare and nonprofit representation, and offers members of the media coordinated access to library experts and materials.
To effectively increase campus and community appreciation for library services, resources, and partnerships, Michelle is always seeking out unique stories from the many units and experts of IU Libraries. With its reputation as one of the top academic libraries in the nation, Michelle is helping amplify the impact and profile of IU Libraries on local and national levels.
Michelle uses her journalism background everyday, and sees writing as an integral part of her work in coordinating communications. She shares her nonprofit marketing and media experience by serving as an occasional instructor for Indiana University’s Media School in the areas of Public Relations writing and campaigns. Michelle is also a contributor to Homes and Lifestyles of Southern Indiana.
Michelle serves as secretary of the Libraries Professional Council, and as part of this role is currently championing a service project for IU Libraries staff and faculty to revitalize the resident’s library at the Rise!, a transitional housing program from Middle Way House in Bloomington. She is also active in many leadership roles at Arlington United Methodist Church, an ardent supporter of Ellettsville’s Pantry 279, an alumni of the Gamma Mu chapter of Alpha Chi Omega, and a member of Bloomington’s Local Council of Women.
