About
Schedule an Appointment with Meg Galasso
Meg Galasso supports the teaching, learning, and research of faculty and students in History, Jewish Studies, and Religious Studies. This work includes selecting and purchasing relevant materials, collaborating with faculty to provide engaging workshops for their students, hosting research consultations, and connecting researchers with the tools and services available to provoke and explore new and compelling questions.
Her current research examines the intersection of identity, fatness, and public-facing librarianship, with a particular emphasis on the ways in which gender, race, presentation, and expectations affect fat librarians' professional identities and experiences of inclusion or exclusion. Some recent works include:
- Galasso, M. (Forthcoming, Spring 2025). Confronting anti-fat bias to create more inclusive libraries. In B. L. Newman (Ed.), Well-being in the Library Workplace: A Handbook for Managers. ALA Editions.
- Galasso, M. (2023, October 19). Fatness and libraries: Amplifying the voices of fat librarians in DEIA work. Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) Region 6 Speakers Spotlight Series.
- Galasso, M. (2023). Fatness and the future of equity, diversity, and inclusion in librarianship. Forging the Future: ACRL 2023 Conference Proceedings, 170-180.
