As the Open Publishing Librarian, Matt Vaughn supports the IU library’s open access journal publishing program. The program publishes over 50 open access academic journals, and Matt assists the editorial teams through troubleshooting and consultations. He also works with journal staff to identify needs and opportunities to improve and customize IU's journal publishing platform. In addition, he provides training and guidance on scholarly communication and publishing best practices to IU staff, students, and faculty through workshops and through the development of user guides and documentation.

 His current research interests include JATS XML publishing workflows, journal content accessibility, and publishing equity and best practices. He is a member of the Library Publishing Coalition’s Professional Development Committee where his contributions focus on helping members create effective documentation for their publishing initiatives. 

Matt completed his Master of Library Science degree from Indiana University in 2021. Prior to joining IU Libraries, he taught courses emphasizing analytical writing, information literacy, and leadership development at Jefferson College (Missouri). He holds a Ph.D. English Literature from the University of Tulsa and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Southeast Missouri State University.
