What do Barbra Streisand, Willie Mays, and an Indiana University faculty member have in common?
On November 24, IU faculty member and former Indiana congressman Lee Hamilton - along with Streisand, Mays, and a group of other distinguished Americans - will be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the U.S. Read more about Lee Hamilton and this prestigious honor.
IU's Modern Political Papers collection, part of the University Archives, includes a large number of Hamilton's papers dating from 1965-2010. This collection includes the Lee H. Hamilton Congressional Papers, Hamilton's 9/11 Commission Papers (available online), and other materials. For most of these papers, finding aids are available online but on-site access to the papers themselves must be arranged in advance. For more information contact Kate Cruikshank, Political Papers Specialist.
The IU Bloomington Libraries also hold a large number of books and materials by and about Hamilton, which can be found via IUCAT. These include videorecordings of many of his appearances on the television news program "Meet the Press," which are available for online streaming with authorized Indiana University login credentials.
Additionally, the Lilly Library on the Bloomington campus holds a selection of books and materials from the library of Congressman Hamilton, which may be viewed by visiting the Lilly.
