Keith Cochran is Associate Director of the William and Gayle Cook Music Library, and also serves as Head of Music Library Technical Services. In these roles, he supervises acquisitions and cataloging of the library’s extensive collections, as well as assisting and advising the Director, and representing the library as needed. As the collection manager for music, he works closely with students and faculty to build and maintain a collection of recordings, scores and research materials that supports the world-class programs of the Jacobs School of Music.

Keith pursues his research interests in music librarianship, educating and training music librarians, musicology and editing through his service, publication and teaching for both the department of musicology of the Jacobs School of Music, and the School of Informatics and Computing’s Department of Information & Library Science. His courses include M539, Research and Bibliography for Music Graduate Students, and Z665, Seminar in Music Librarianship. Keith also serves as music review editor for Notes: Quarterly Journal of the Music Library Association.

Previous to joining the IU Libraries, Keith was the Music Librarian at Ball State University from 2000 – 2007. He holds a Ph.D. in Musicology and a Master of Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
