The Herman B Wells Library is central to campus with its location at the corner of 10th Street and North Jordan Avenue.
From January 4 through February 19, 2021, North Jordan will be closed from 10th Street nearly all the way to 3rd Street (Jones Avenue) for a sewer repair project. A detour will be in place. Those coming to campus from the south may choose to travel north via Union Street or Indiana Avenue, and then use 10th Street to reach Jordan Avenue.
Parking lot remains open
The Wells Library parking lot is open, but can only be accessed by traveling south for a short stretch of North Jordan from 10th Street. This area is marked with barricades, but open for travel to the parking lot. Visitor parking is offered with a 45-minute limit. Note that much of the University-permit parking in this lot is currently closed due to a large construction project. The fall 2020 project to repair the south entrance of the library is now complete and the building can be accessed from either the lower patio entrance or by taking the stairs to the main floor lobby entrance.
Book drops remain open
There are drive-up book drops available in the Wells parking area. Find one near the visitor parking area, and another set in the lower part of the lot, near the 7th Street parking exit. Note, 7th Street is also presently closed to traffic in this area. The only way to exit the parking area is to travel North on Jordan toward 10th Street. IU Libraries is currently accepting material returns.
