The IU Libraries are proud to offer tools and services that support experimenting, tinkering, playing, and inventing.


The Maker Mondays workshop series is designed to introduce individuals to emerging technologies and harness creativity. Past workshop topics include stop motion animation, logo design, and the Internet of Things.

Creative Play

The Scholars’ Commons offers weekly drop-in creative play sessions for students, faculty, and staff. These activities are meant to spark creativity, help fight writer’s block, or simply offer a break from computer screens.

Supplies and tools for workshops and events are provided by the Libraries’ mobile maker cart. The cart is fully equipped with DIY electronics kits, digital music instruments, a vinyl cutter and more.

3D Printing

The Wells Library is also home to the UITS 3D Printing Lab on the 4th floor of the West Tower. The lab is equipped with Makerbot printers and scanners.
