Summary: Coordinate and participate in the daily operations of the Ruth Lilly Auxiliary Library Facility (ALF). Receive, unload, clean, and sort materials.  Access, enter, track, and discharge materials using facility management/inventory software.  Shelve and retrieve materials while operating an order picker lift vehicle.  Transport materials to and from the ALF including loading and unloading carts and totes, driving the ALF delivery vehicle among multiple service points across campus, packing and loading materials to return to the ALF.   Interact with patrons and colleagues and respond to user requests. Resolve problems encountered during unit operations.  Maintain production quotas. Directs and trains temporary employees.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Some college-level course work preferred. One year working with inventory control software.  One year of library and six months of customer service experience preferred.  One year storeroom or warehouse experience preferred.

Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by Indiana University.  Ability to operate picker lift vehicle up to heights of 32 feet.  Training and certification provided.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities: Working knowledge of standard office systems including e-mail, Internet applications, database searching, and strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, and Excel). Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions; ability to perform work requiring considerable standing and heavy physical effort; and ability to work in a safe and efficient manner. Ability to process detailed work with accuracy; strong organizational skills; and ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities; ability to pay attention-to-detail and follow established guidelines; ability to effectively organize tasks and manage time; and demonstrated dependability and flexibility. Good oral and written communications skills; ability to work as part of a team; excellent interpersonal skills; and ability to maintain a high level of productivity.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for up to eight hours per day and to push and pull large payloads on pallets or carts.  Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.  Repetitive hand and arm movements, bending, reaching, squatting, and walking required.  Ability to work in a 38-degree environment on many days, and for several hours at a stretch at times.
