Jay Fellowship Accepting Applications

Position Description

  The fellowship recipient agrees to work 180 hours (approximately 12-15 hours/week) each semester (15 weeks) in the Department of Teaching & Learning, Wells Library, for the duration of the scholarship. This work involves:

  • Staffing the Research Assistance Desk and participating in relevant Teaching and Learning Department activities (6-8 hours/week).
  • Working with each member of the Department of Teaching and Learning on projects designed to introduce a broad understanding of public services and instructional librarianship (6-7 hours/week). Areas include:
    • Instruction and instructional design
    • Co-curricular outreach and engagement
    • Library space design and management
    • Designing student support services
    • Identifying, developing, and implementing a substantial project under the direction of Teaching and Learning librarians.
  • Individually or collaboratively with others in the department submit a conference presentation proposal or paper for publication. Acceptance is not required.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in IUB graduate program throughout the course of the scholarship
  • Strong commitment to pursuing a career in Public Services librarianship with a specific focus on information literacy in the contexts of teaching, learning and pedagogy (in-person and online)
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software for instructional purposes
  • Ability to work in-person, on-site
