1. What would you like people to know about you?
I am studying elementary education with a concentration in social studies. Currently, I am a sophomore, and I am from Indiana.
2. How has working at the IU Libraries enhanced your college experience?
Working at the libraries on campus has significantly enhanced my college experience by providing opportunities to develop new skills and connect with fellow students that I otherwise wouldn't have been about to.
3. How do you envision the IU Libraries Undergraduate Scholarship helping you on your educational/personal path?
The IU Libraries Undergraduate Scholarship has helped me on my educational path because it is enabling me to further engage with the resources and opportunities that exist in the library. It has also allowed me to be able to focus on my school studies more. The scholarship has also helped my personal path by allowing me to have more financial flexibility, allowing me to participate in activities that I would not have been able to previously.
4. What books, podcasts, apps, and/or music are you preoccupied with right now that you recommend and why?
A book series that I am currently rereading is "Divergent" by Veronica Roth. I find the dystopian novels to be both thrilling and thought-provoking. The characters are written with complex stories which makes the novels more engaging. I recommend this book series because it is also fast-paced and keeps you hooked from start to finish. The novels are the perfect mix of action and adventure while also complex ideas of belonging and your identity.
5. What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?
My advice would be to go out and put yourself out there. It's easy to want to stay in your dorm, but when you step outside your comfort zone, you might meet a friend for life.
