This profile is one in a series that tells the stories of our Undergraduate Scholars.
1. Where do you work within IU Libraries, and what would you like people to know about you?
I am a Political Science major with a minor in African American and African Diaspora Studies. I work in the Indiana University Libraries Administrative Office, where I assist with Correspondence and Development*. I am originally from Indianapolis, Indiana.
*Development deals with fundraising. The department sends out letters, engages with donors, and creates data concerning gifts to IU Libraries.
2. How has working at the IU Libraries enhanced your college experience?
Working at the IU Libraries has truly helped me grow as a future professional. Through this experience, I’ve developed valuable skills and gained insight into what it means to work in a professional environment. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of IU Libraries, and one of my biggest takeaways from working in Correspondence and Development is understanding the importance of building and maintaining strong professional relationships
3. What do you hope to do after you graduate?
After graduation, I hope to work in community engagement, social impact, or corporate social responsibility. I’ve learned that a strong company culture is essential to building genuine connections with external and internal partners, which ultimately allows organizations to create a more meaningful impact
4. What activities and/or hobbies do you like to do when you are not studying or working?
I truly enjoy cooking, whether it’s for myself or for friends and family. I love seeing how food has the power to bring people together.
5. What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?
I would say to take the time to truly enjoy being at Indiana University. A lot of the time, we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of being college students and forget to appreciate the experiences happening around us.
