Since 2013, we've been working to improve the newer IUCAT interface, available at https://iucat.iu.edu. IUCAT, which logged about 5 million pageviews in the 2016 - 17 academic year, provides access to over 8.5 million bibliographic records that represent the combined holdings of the statewide Indiana University Libraries system to faculty, students and staff at each of IU's nine campuses, plus Indiana residents, and researchers and scholars from around the globe. Because we know it's critical to your research, we've released a number of enhancements, including these highlights from the last couple of years:
- a major upgrade in spring 2017 that delivered a streamlined design reflecting new IU brand standards and extensive updates to the underlying applications that power our library catalog;
- the addition of the Lilly Library Request System in winter 2016;
- in fall 2015, the launch of IUCATplus, which allows simultaneous searching of IUCAT and OneSearch@IU ; and
- the ability to filter by Newly Added Titles in summer 2015.
With the addition of Browse and Class Reserves views, made available prior to this fall semester, all of the major functions of the legacy IUCAT Classic interface are now available via the current IUCAT interface powered by the open-source application Blacklight. Therefore IUCAT Classic, the legacy online library catalog, will be deactivated effective Sunday December 17th following the completion of the fall semester.
Following the retirement through the end of spring semester 2018, visitors to http://classic.iucat.iu.edu will reach a page that describes options available via IUCAT and directs them there.
If you have any questions or concerns about the planned retirement of IUCAT Classic please feel free to contact Courtney McDonald, Head of Discovery & User Experience.
