The IU Libraries has created an interactive index map for three map sets of West Africa. The index map allows you to see which maps in the set are held by IU, as well as information about the individual maps in the set, such as the title and call number.

Each physical map in the interactive index can be found in the Government Information, Maps and Microform Services (GIMMS) department, on the second floor of the East Tower in the Wells Library.

The three map sets represented in the index map are "Carte de l'Afrique de l'Ouest," "Carte du Cameroun," and "République Populaire du Bénin – carte au 50,000." At a scale of 1:50,000, these detailed topographical maps were published between 1951 and 1987 by the Institut Géographique National (IGN), an administrative unit of the French government.  All of the map legends and titles are in French.

IU Libraries holds more than 500 maps from these extensive sets. Countries represented in IU's collection include Senegal, Guinea, Mali, Côte d'Ivoire, Niger, Benin, Togo, and Cameroon.
