The IU Libraries Teaching & Learning Department coordinated a cross-campus, collaborative initiative to help instructors integrate information literacy into student coursework through Canvas.
Check Out the Information Literacy Online Toolkit
We also offer a companion guide on Presbooks to help guide students through using the libraries resources and navigating online information resources
Canvas allows instructors to link to articles and e-books from within library resources as well as uploading full text from some resources.
Although posting an article seems easy, copyright laws and the licenses required by publishers can restrict the items that can be uploaded and posted. Some publishers do not allow uploading of articles at all, instead allowing only direct links. Others allow articles to be posted for a short time period.
Course Guides provide instructional materials about the research process and connect students with relevant library resources and services. A librarian will work with you to create a guide that corresponds to your class's learning objectives and assignments. Faculty and instructors may contact Teaching & Learning to request a course guide be created for their class.
The Libraries materials available to instructors include a number of collections, archives, and libraries unique to IU Bloomington. A few of the most popular archival libraries sources for instructors include:
University Archives
The University Archives encourages and supports the use of its collection in the classroom and aids academic departments as they address program goals related to the use of primary sources (correspondence, photographs, etc.).
Lilly Library
As Indiana University's rare books, manuscripts, and special collections library, the Lilly Library offers instructors and classes access to unique materials and research guidance across a wide range of subjects.
Wylie House Museum
Wylie House Museum and the Morton C. Bradley, Jr. Education center afford instructors the opportunity to teach in unique learning environments with access to a variety of 19th century domestic artifacts and a rich collection of 19th century documents and photographs. Read more about faculty resources at Wylie House Museum.
