Gender studies is a transdisciplinary field that bridges and embraces a variety of modes of inquiry relevant to gender and the ways in which this discourse intersects with other domains, particularly sexuality and the body; (dis)ability and neurodiversity; race, ethnicity, and nationality; & popular culture and representation, among many others. The study of gender typically examines and deconstructs the sociocultural construction of both masculinity and femininity while also attending to the plurality of gender identities and gendered modes of expression, beyond the binary and across histories and cultural contexts. Beyond engaging with gender as a primary matter, other important concerns and concentrations include: women's studies, feminism, masculinities, lgbt/queer culture & history, and the relationship between identification and power.
