My Beautiful Laundrette (1985)
Directed by Stephen Frears from a screenplay by Hanif Kureishi
Starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Gordon Warnecke

Class and ethnic tensions of Thatcher-era Britain serve as a backdrop for a same-sex romance that develops between a Pakistani man and his English school friend when they become business managers of a run-down laundromat.

Tim Bell, a film and television scholar and faculty member from The Media School, will introduce the film and moderate a post-screening discussion.

All are welcome! Refreshments will be provided.
