Empathy Through Imagery
Graphic Medicine, Zines, and Health Narratives
Details
About the Exhibition
Graphic Medicine uses graphic novels and comics to explore the intersection of the human experience with health. These are often personal narratives and stories used to reflect and inform on health conditions, experiences as caregivers, and grief.
The term “graphic medicine” was coined in 2007 by Dr. Ian Williams, a comics artist and physician. Dr. Williams provided a purposefully broad definition of graphic medicine in the Graphic Medicine Manifesto, labeling it as “the intersection of the medium of comics and the discourse of healthcare.”
Perhaps this exhibit will inspire you to share your story through words and images. Whether it’s about health, healing, identity, or lived experience, your voice matters.
