E-Resources Use Policy

Access to many of the IU Libraries' electronic resources is governed by license agreements which restrict use to the Indiana University community affiliated with the campus(es) purchasing the subscription (students, faculty, staff and other affiliates) and to walk-in patrons.  It is the responsibility of all authorized users to use these resources only for individual, non-commercial, research or learning purposes.

Authorized users are not permitted to:

  • Engage in systematic copying, downloading, or printing of licensed content or use manual or automated software (including, but not limited to, web-crawlers and spiders) within licensed content.
  • Transmit licensed content to any unauthorized user or use the licensed content for commercial purposes.
  • Modify or create a derivative work of licensed content or remove, obscure, or modify any copyright or other notices included in the licensed content.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise alter, frame, or simulate the appearance of licensed content.
