The Discovery and User Experience (DUX) department oversees the IU Bloomington Libraries website (libraries.indiana.edu), the discovery tool OneSearch@IU, Springshare applications and the Library blogs. We coordinate the Libraries' social media strategy, as well as providing project or product management support for a variety of initiatives.
DUX values assessment-driven decisions, best practices, clean design, diverse perspectives, empathy for our constituents and colleagues, finding a way to say “yes,” good humor, iterative improvement, and plain language.
We embrace a user-centered approach in which we advocate for the needs, expectations and desires of the people who rely on our products and services. We recognize that these needs and expectations continuously change, so we commit to ongoing inquiry, data analysis, usability testing, and assessment.
Our department supports IU Libraries’ strategic goals through applying our expertise in user experience design, project management methodologies, accessibility, content strategy, search, and discovery in order to fulfill our shared mission to support the teaching, learning, and research of the University community.
