If you are the first person to encounter an emergency that is affecting library collections, follow the instructions below to ensure your safety and report the problem.

FIRST ENSURE YOUR SAFETY
In a water emergency, potential dangers include electrical shock, exposure to sewage, chemicals, or mold. Do not enter the area until it has been determined safe. If the Fire Department is called, they will determine when staff may re-enter the building.
THEN REPORT THE EMERGENCY
A. FIRE, police, ambulance, or any life-threatening emergency – call 911
B. WATER EMERGENCY - call IU Facility Operations - (812)-855-8728
In reporting the emergency, remain calm, and provide the following information:
- Nature and location of the problem
- When the problem started
- Your name, location, and phone number
- Stay on the phone until you have given all necessary information. Do not be the first to hang up.
