Come make a film without a camera! In this workshop attendees will learn the techniques of direct animation, which is a hands-on way of working directly with photochemical film to create animated movies. Scratch, paint, draw, stain, splice, crickle, hole-punch, glue, and etch directly onto analog film both clear stock and recycled projection prints. After a brief introduction by archivists and filmmakers, participants will work directly with film materials to make new, unique, one-of-a-kind works of art. And then we will screen the new films! Filmmaking is fun; anyone can do it.
