As part of the Library Technologies division, the Digital Media Software Development department develops tools that support access to digital audiovisual materials. We are the primary contributors to the open source Avalon Media System project, which is used to power Media Collections Online here at IU. These production systems provide access to hundreds of thousands of digitized media items. We're also building the Audiovisual Metadata Platform, another open source project that creates a platform for audiovisual collection managers to use AI and machine learning tools to automatically generate metadata like transcripts for their collections.
