Just in time for Valentine’s Day, join us for a peek into the dating rituals of yesteryear with these eight guides to the art of courtship. The books on display span from 1795 to 1962, showing changes in the customs and rules of the dating game from the days of courtship by post to the time of women’s liberation. Selections include a miniature book called The Diamond Etiquette for Courtship and Marriage, a piece of early 20th century sheet music, a campy dating manual from 1930s, and Helen Gurley Brown’s quasi-feminist manifesto, Sex and the Single Girl.
