Geosciences Library

The Geosciences Library closed permanently at the end of the day on December 19, 2014.  While the physical space of the Geosciences Library will be returned to The College, faculty and students will continue to have access to library services and resources.

E-journals and Geology related search tools

Tools such as GSA Today, Geosciences World, Geological Society of America Special Papers, and the National Geological Sciences Map Database will continue to be available using desktops, laptops, and other mobile devices. For a complete listing of Geology related search tools and databases visit the Geological Sciences research guide.

Books and bound journals

All new books and journals acquired for the Geosciences Library will be sent directly to the Libraries’ Auxiliary Library Facility and researchers can request items for delivery from ALF (see Services below) using IUCAT, the Library catalog interface. Books and journals titles that are heavily used will be transferred to the Wells Library.

Maps

Maps will be transferred to the Wells Library and the Libraries’ Auxiliary Library Facility as appropriate.

Services

Print reserves, delivery, reference services, etc. will continue till the end of the fall semester.  Beginning the spring semester of 2015, print reserves for the current academic year will be moved to the Wells Library. In mid-December Geosciences will be removed as a delivery option in IUCAT.

Faculty and graduate students with secure mailboxes are being encouraged to sign up for office delivery service.  Anyone can select a pick up location of their choice using IUCAT.

For additional services such as Reference and Instructional support, contact Jian Liu, Head of the Science Libraries.
