Join IU archaeologists and field school students for three hours of involvement with a historic site archaeology project.
Learn the fundamentals of phonography by creating a low-tech record player. We’ll construct turntables with screws, needles, and cardboard, and listen to vinyl records without using any electricity.
All supplies will be provided.
In this workshop you’ll create an animated film, one frame at a time. We’ll introduce the fundamentals of the stop motion technique, cover the basics of lighting and camera setup, and practice with the free Stop Motion Studio app.
Celebrate American Archives Month with GIFs! In this workshop you’ll learn to create an animated GIF in Photoshop using images from the IU Archives Photograph Collection.
Learn the basics of e-textiles by making a light up bow tie. We’ll start by drawing a circuit diagram and then use conductive thread, LEDs, and a coin cell battery to sew a complete circuit.
All supplies will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own bow ties.
Learn the basics of soldering by creating a light up skull badge. Participants will solder two LEDs and a pin back to a printed circuit board (PCB).
All supplies will be provided and no previous experience is necessary to participate.
