Celebrating the Legacy of Augusta Baker
To celebrate Black History Month the IU Libraries Education Library is sharing the legacy of pioneering librarian August Baker. At the height of the Harlem Renaissance, Baker was put in charge of the children’s room at the 135th Street Branch of the NYPL and worked to collect titles with a positive depiction of Black children and families, publishing bibliographies to guide colleagues across the country to do the same.
