ReSOUND

In 1982, the Archives of Traditional Music began publishing a quarterly newsletter/journal called ReSOUND. It combined news of the ATM's activities and new acquisitions with academic articles connected to the ATM's holdings. ReSOUND was published in print form until 2007 and will return to publication soon in an online form that will allow the incorporation of relevant media with articles. The Folklore and Folk Music Archivist

Soon after the Archives was formally established in 1954, director George List began editing a small journal devoted to issues of archiving in the field of folklore and the emerging field of ethnomusicology. The Folklore and Folk Music Archivist explored issues in archiving, and highlighted the work and collections of ethnographic scholars. List wrote a multipart article on the process of copying cylinder recordings, Americo Paredes wrote about the folklore archive at the University of Texas, and Nadia Chilkovsky wrote about dance notation. From 1958 to 1968, this small journal was an important communication tool for archivists and scholars working in research archives.
